What can I expect?
Our first session will be spent talking about you, sharing your story, and engaging in some goal-setting to ensure we are on the right track. After that, we will use in-the-moment somatic interventions to begin learning the language of the body and increasing a sense of “containment” in the nervous system.
This is done to build up strategies for coping with activation and dysregulation throughout your day-to-day and during intense moments in sessions.
If you are comfortable and interested in engaging in art therapy, we will use things like oil pastels and pencils in the session.
If you are interested in engaging in arts-based interventions virtually, simply bring some art-making supplies to the session (i.e., a journal, blank paper, oil pastels, felt pens).

I recommend you contact your insurance provider or check your benefits booklet to make sure you have coverage for a "certified" counsellor or Counselling Therapist. (My specific certifications are as a Counselling Therapist in Alberta as a Canadian Certified Counsellor) If so, then yes!
